Description
According to ancient Egyptian mythology, the sun-god Re spent the night travelling through the underworld in his barge, fighting the great serpent Apophis and regenerating from old age back into youth in preparation for a new day’s travel across the sky.
The image shows Re with a ram’s head, travelling through the 12th hour of the Amduat on his barque. The serpent Mehen encircles him and protects him from harm in the underworld.
And now you can show off your Egyptology geekery with this gorgeously soft and comfy, yet stylish cotton t-shirt.
It’ll pair fantastically with your favourite jeans or with sports leggings for the gym or your yoga class.
Own a piece of artwork from the walls of the Tate Liverpool! This photo was featured in the Garstang’s Tate Exchange Workshop in December 2017; an exhibition centered around the surrealism of the ancient Egyptian afterlife.
The photo on this t-shirt comes from the Amduat of the lady Tjawtayundenit now in the collection at the the Garstang Museum of Archaeology in Liverpool. Tjawtayundenit was a songstress of Amun-Re, who lived in Egypt during the 21st Dynasty (1069–945 BC). The papyrus was photographed with a macro lens, so the image on the t-shirt is many times the size of the original piece, and is an exclusive design you won’t find elsewhere.
The design is printed using the direct to garment method, meaning you get amazing detail and colours. However, you will need to wash at 30º to keep the design looking as good as the day it arrived on your doorstep.
Each t-shirt is printed to order, usually dispatched within three working days, using 100% plastic-free packaging. This means that resources are used only as and when needed.
The t-shirts are manufactured in Bangladesh by a company overseen by the Fair Wear Foundation, meaning the workers are treated with respect and dignity, in a safe and secure environment.
The cotton production is as ecological as possible, minimising water use, using crop rotation to maximise soil health and fertility, and recycles waste products from the plant into animal feed.
Both t-shirts and inks are free from harmful chemicals and animal products, making them vegan-friendly and eco-friendly.
When your order arrives, if the colours on your product don’t look quite the same as how they look on your screen, please remember that computer monitors and mobile devices can show colours in slightly different ways and intensities. However, if there’s an obvious problem with print quality – or your product arrives damaged – please let me know, along with some photos, so I can organise a replacement.
If delivery is significantly delayed (excluding longer delivery times during busy periods or times of strike action), please let me know so we can come up with a solution.
If, when you receive your order, you change your mind, you can return it within 14 days of delivery for a refund or store credit. Just drop me an email if this is the case. Please remember, however, that I am one person, and that I don’t have the financial cushion that large retailers do to be able to offset the cost of returns for the sake of, e.g., trying different sizes or designs. Thanks!
